description |
The dancer Dydia Nelidova, who danced the part of the Grande Nymphe in the Afternoon
of a Faun (the principal female role in the Nijinsky ballet), is shown dressed in
the costume designed by Leon Bakst. Delaroche's sketch captures some of the attempt
of the dance to present two-dimensionality and stylized postures to evoke Greek vase
painting. Wikipedia; http://en.wikipedia.org/ (accessed 8/18/2013) [description source] |
