The tools listed below have incorporated elements of VRA Core into their design and implementation. The VRA Core OC is always looking for more information to add to this page. Entries may be submitted via an online form, or by contacting the VRA Core OC Chairs at vracore@vraweb.org.

Tool Name VRA Core 4 XML Transform Tool
Brief Summary The open-source VRA Core 4 XML Transform Tool enables any user who can supply descriptive image and work metadata in a standardized CSV form (comma separated values, e.g. via Excel) to create validating VRA Core 4 XML. In addition, it is also possible to transform data into RDF based on the VRA Ontology. The tool can be used online or as desktop application. Development of the tool was supported by VRA Foundation and Heidelberg Research Architecture.

Tool Name VRA XML to RDF converter
Brief Summary This tool allows VRA Core 4 XML users to convert their data into RDF. We created an RDF ontology, a XSLT conversion stylesheet and a set of code to run the conversion.

Tool Name VRA Panel Export-Import Tool
Brief Summary This is a JavaScript plugin for Adobe Bridge CS3 and higher that allows you to export embedded metadata from RAW, TIFF, JPEG, and PNG files to a text file. It also allows you to import metadata from a tab-delimited text file into a group of images.

Tool Name Ziziphus
Brief Summary Ziziphus is an open-source VRA Core 4 metadata editor. It is web-based and applies forms to store metadata directly in XML. Ziziphus is built on eXist-db and operates with the Tamboti metadata framework.

Tool Name DIMLI (Digital Media Management Library)
Brief Summary DIMLI is an open-source database built on PHP/SQL that designed with the VRA Core 4.0 as the main framework for cataloging and workflow management.  Driven by the flexibility of the Work and Image, it has the Getty vocabularies built in and streamlines the cataloging of cultural objects.

Tool Name IRIS (Image Resource Information System)
Brief Summary IRIS is a relational database created in FileMaker Pro for the cataloging of art images by Visual Resource professionals.  IRIS is a cataloging tool that uses VRA Core and CCO standards and includes extensive authority files which can be edited easily and exported into presentations tools, such as MDID and ARTstor.  IRIS is an informal non-profit cooperative project to which all members volunteer their time and expertise.  An annual membership fee covers the costs of some technical help and the programming of yearly upgrades.
